- Remarks
- These manuscripts are mentioned by Pian Yuqian & Duan Shu'an (Benshiji yilai chutu jianbo gaishu, Taibei, 1999:3), who cite Kozlov (1923) as their reference. I have been unable to verify the existence of these manuscripts so far and it is not altogether clear of what period they are and whether they are written in Chinese at all. The German translation (which may not be complete) of Kozlov's work (Zur toten Stadt Chara-Choto. Mongolei, Amdo und die tote Stadt Chara-Choto, Berlin: Neufeld & Henius, 1925) does not mention these, but states generally (p.242) that all manuscripts found by Kozlov belong to around the Yuan period. I have also not been able to find any Chinese wood manuscripts or anything of ancient date by browsing through the monumental collection 'E(luosi kexueyuan Dongfang yanjiusuo Shengpidebao fensuo) cang Heishuicheng wenxian' (11 vols., Shanghai, 1999), except for a paper print of a part of the Hanshu biography of Chen Xian (in vol. 5, no. TK315). n.q. (Chinese ?)
