documents found in the western side compartment, some had been wrapped up in lacquered leather (?) and laid beneath weapons where they were crushed when grave robbers trampled on the weapons; others had been stored in a bamboo box and have been better preserved. There are over 70 wholesome strips, the rest being fragmented. The report does not specify how the total of 401 pieces distribute over the two or three documents.
