Ying Xi Sheng Huo (Movie Daily News), an entertainment daily newspaper, founded in 1930 as a weekly periodical, ceased publication after the event of January the 28th, 1931, resumed publication on September 1st, 1932, ceased publication on May 17th, 1933. Its founder and chief-editor is Tang Bihua, executive editors Zhu Mingqiu and Ye Limin. It focused solely on the art of film, especially the latest news of movie studios, film stars and movie houses in Shanghai. Besides, it often analyzed problems of latest chinese Films, introduced and popularized the various facettes of the art of film. Its main aim is to promote the level of Chinese films, which should not mere imitate the western films. The western films in its field of vision are Hollywood-films. It has some relative fixed columns, which are mainly about the entertainment news, film reviews and introduction of the knowlege about the art of film. The number of the published photos is about two or three pieces every issue, highly focused on the photos of famous film stars especially female ones. The advertisements occupy a secondary position, which appear almost only in the centre joints. Their content are mainly about hospitals, medicine, cigarettes, glasses, new films. There are almost no caricatures in this newspaper.
